On Tuesday, 2nd March 2021, BCA’s International Engagement Working Group hosted a series of short presentations on BCA’s past international engagement work, ambitions for future work, and the international organisations that BCA contributes to in various ways.
IEWG members Helen Freris, Bill Jolley and Ben Clare gave presentations and were joined by John Danesh Krishnan (Tasmanian representative on the National Policy Council) to provide a diversity of expertise and perspectives in this area.
Bill Jolley shared his in-depth knowledge of the World Blind Union and the WBU General Assembly. Helen Freris presented further insights into the WBU and it’s policy parallels with BCA. Ben Clare shared his perspectives on international advocacy in education and SPEVI and ICEVI. And the final presentation of the night was given by John Danesh Krishnan who discussed his perspectives on advocacy as someone who has lived in Singapore and Tasmania.
